How much time do I need?
We usually suggest 6 months as the perfect time frame. This gives you time to learn your routine, get comfortable, and take a few extra steps along the way. The more you learn, the more relaxed and prepared you will be throughout the day. However, don't stress! If your wedding is in a few weeks, our teachers can work their magic and prepare something fabulous for you.
Your wedding routine
From a simple wedding dance to an extravagant routine, the Arthur Murray Milan team can make anything happen!
Professional instructors
Not only have our teachers undergone a rigorous training program used worldwide in over 305 Arthur Murray Studios, but most of them have been dancing since before they could walk!

Guide to your wedding dance
No matter what your skill level, we will make you feel confident, excited and more than prepared for the big moment.
Step 1 - When should you start dance lessons for your wedding?
Ideally, starting lessons 6 months before your wedding date will allow you to learn more than just the wedding dance (you might even learn a few moves for the reception!). You can learn a handful of steps or an incredibly beautiful and choreographed routine. It all depends on how much time you give us to help you prepare for this special day. Talk to your teachers. Tell them what you're looking for, what your goals are, and how you plan to look that day.
Step 2- Are you planning a dad/daughter dance?
For most people, the dad/daughter dance is a highly anticipated moment. For most fathers it can be a little nerve-wracking! At Arthur Murray Milano, we do more than teach your dad the dance moves, we'll give him confidence so he can relax and focus on dancing his first dance!
Step 3 - Choose the music
Choosing a song that means something to you is obviously our top priority. But don't be afraid to compromise either. Some songs just don't work on the dance floor, especially if you're new and the music is designed for difficult dancing. Give your teachers the opportunity to give you their guidance and advice.
Step 4 - The dance floor
It's no good walking in and looking for a stunningly graceful waltz floating across the floor if the dance space you have at the reception is smaller than a walk-in shower! Find out in advance the dimensions of the floor, how the audience and guests will be seated, and whether the wedding dance will be filmed - all so that your teacher can choreograph your routine so that you don't end up facing a wall for all time!
Step 5 - Style of your wedding
Let's face it, men, we'll dress like a penguin for the day and not have to worry about our tie or pants getting caught under our heels! Our brides, on the other hand, have to worry about the wedding dress. So girls, have a private chat with your teacher and let him know what your dress is like; is it thin like an evening dress, is it short or long, is there a train? All of this will help your teacher choreograph your routine so you don't have additional stress during the day.
Step 6 - Dance shoes
Heels, sandals, flip flops… whatever you want to wear throughout the day, you need to make sure you can dance in it. We usually recommend that you bring these shoes to every class, so you get used to wearing them.
Step 7 - Practice!
Eventually, things start to click, you're learning the steps, dancing to a routine, and starting to imagine that day. Make sure you come to parties and groups and practice the steps you know. It will help you prepare for the wedding dance, when you are ready to let loose and dance together!
