How can I get started?

Do I need a partner to learn to dance?
Absolutely not! We offer lessons for both couples and individuals for every style and level of dance. You will learn and dance with a qualified and professional instructor. In fact, couples often take lessons on their own to surprise their partners.
What kind of skills do I need to have?
We offer a wide range of dance programs to suit your individual needs. We will design a tailor-made program for you based on your interests, what you would like to get out of dancing, the number of dances you would like to learn, how often you would like a lesson and the level you would like to reach.
During your first trial lesson, you will come in and see what we do by having a chat with our teachers to understand if Arthur Murray Milan is the right place for you.
When can I take lessons?
We can schedule your lessons based on your availability. Our school is open Monday to Friday from 2pm to 9.45pm and Saturday from 11.30am to 3.30pm.
How qualified will my instructor be?
All our dance experts must complete a very rigorous training regime used across the world at 310 Arthur Murray Dance Studios locations. They have experience on the dance floor and are experts in all the techniques that will help you master dance. Rest assured that the instructors selected for you are the best and most passionate in the industry.
How many lessons will it take before I know how to dance?
Everyone learns at a different pace and each dance style differs in complexity, so it's impossible to give you a specific time frame. What we can tell you is that after every single lesson, you will remember more moves than before and you will improve with every lesson! And, if you come to all the group lessons and practice parties, you'll be amazed at how quickly you'll learn things!
What dance styles do you teach?
Arthur Murray Milan offers lessons in all the most popular styles of ballroom and Latin style dancing, including waltz, foxtrot, tango, salsa, rumba, cha cha, swing, lindy hop, bachata and so much more!
What should I wear to my first lesson?
It's best to dress in comfortable clothes that are easy to move around in. Wear shoes that don't slip off your feet and try to avoid shoes such as trainers, with heavy rubber soles (you'll stick to the floor!). After taking a few classes or completing the beginner program, you may decide to invest in a pair of dance shoes. Have a chat with your teacher, he will be able to advise you on the best type of shoes for men and women, finding all the material conveniently at school!
How long does a dance lesson last?
Private lessons and group lessons last approximately 45 minutes each.
What if I already know how to dance?
We offer dance programs suitable for all skill levels! We offer intermediate and advanced dance programs and will customize our lessons to your skill level. If you're interested in dancing competitively, we have competitions all year round - there's always something to do at Arthur Murray Milano!
How often do I have to take a lesson?
Most of our students come once a week for class, but we have some students who come more than once a week. It's totally up to you! Outside of your regular class, be sure to attend all group classes and practice parties. Not only will you meet new people and make friends, but you will put everything you have learned into practice.

Yes! There are over 310 Arthur Murray Studios worldwide and there are competitions throughout the year! From local events in Milan, to national competitions and large competitions abroad with hundreds of competitors - Arthur Murray has it all!
